Sticking to the basics for organic baby food
I knew I wanted my son to eat only organic for loads of reasons you can read about here. However, I am more comfortable knowing exactly what ingredients were going into each meal. I started asking myself, what should his meals consist of? A protein, a veggie, and a fruit. From there, the rest was actually pretty easy! I began thinking about what combinations I would like to eat. Do chicken and apples go? How about beef and pear? Should I add flavors like ginger? As I started to combine a few ingredients, I realized that my kitchen necessities were seriously lacking. There was no way I had a good enough blender, or enough containers to store these organic baby food purees!

- An industrial style blender is key! If you are making easy organic baby food purees, why would you make enough for a day or even a week? Make your life easier and prepare for a month if you can. I have the Ninja Professional 72 oz. One of the most important things for me was the size – 72 oz is big enough to make food for a month. I blend the ingredients 1 to 2 times.
- Now that all this food is made, where are you going to store it? You need glass jars! I chose glass over plastic to avoid any potential chemicals leaking into his food when it’s heated. Four ounces is also a great size, since that’s about how much most babies will eat each meal. I have these glass jars. You might want to buy 2 sets if you plan on making enough for a month.
